On Thursday (25/2), Chairman of Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM,) Gita Wiryawan, facilitated by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in New York, have conducted an simultaneous event in New York City comprised of meeting with the President of Asia Society and discussion with several business groups under the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) New York. This event was a part of the Chairman of BKPM working visit to the U.S. to promote Indonesia’s image through sharing of views and information between the Indonesian government and business groups in the U.S.

Responding to the huge opportunity, the Consulate General consistently continues to promote Indonesian tourism to the U.S. public audience. In cooperation with various stakeholders, the Consulate General conducted three tourism promotion events, which were the Dinner Meeting “Visit the Wonders of Indonesia” with members of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) New York Chapter (24/2) as well as the Boston Globe Travel Show in Boston (19-21/2) and New York Times Travel Show in New York (26-28/2), in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Washington, DC.

Para mahasiswa Indonesia yang kuliah di berbagai universitas di wilayah Timur Laut AS bertemu dan berdiskusi dengan koleganya para Indonesianis muda AS dalam “the 4th Biannual Northeast Conference on Indonesian Studies” di Universitas Yale, New Haven, Connecticut, Sabtu pagi hingga siang waktu setempat (20/2). Selain mereka yang berasal dari Yale dan Cornell, hadir pula mahasiswa dari Columbia University, University of Connecticut, Pace University, Rutgers University, University of Michigan, City College New York dan Wesleyan University.

Udara kota New York yang dingin menggigit tidak menghalangi para undangan untuk hadir pada Diplomatic Dinner yang diselenggarakan oleh organisasi 92nd  Y dan Konsulat Jenderal RI New York. Hadir pada kesempatan tersebut Board President serta beberapa Board Members dan staf organisasi kemasyarakatan 92nd  Y, kalangan diplomatik dari perwakilan negara-negara sahabat, serta wakil dari Asia Society.
